Wrestling Sensation Samar Hamza Joins as Ambassador for SATUC World Cup
Samar Hamza, the Egyptian wrestling champion celebrated as the ‘Iron Lady’
of Egyptian sports, has made history yet again by joining the ranks of
distinguished ambassadors for the forthcoming SATUC World Cup Girls, scheduled
to take place in 2024. This global event is organised by SATUC Charity, led by
the visionary Sheikha Al Thani.
Hamza’s inclusion as an ambassador for the SATUC World Cup Girls comes as a
result of discussions between her and Sheikha Al Thani, the President of the
SATUC Charity and the driving force behind this remarkable initiative. Samar
Hamza has enthusiastically expressed her support for the tournament,
emphasising its potential to positively impact children by providing them with
an opportunity to express their love for sports.
The World Cup qualifiers for boys and girls are set to take place on
September 27th at the Al-Ahly Club, Fifth Settlement Branch. The event will
involve selecting three teams, both boys and girls, from a pool of 600 children
and girls participating in these qualifiers. The Al-Ahly Club has generously
opened its stadiums in the Fifth Settlement Branch to host this significant
event.
Samar Hamza firmly believes that the SATUC World Cup will serve as a platform
for boys and girls to showcase their sporting talents, potentially discovering
the next great sports star among them.
SATUC previously organised two editions of the SATUC World Cup, the first in Cairo in 2015, featuring eight teams and attended by notable Egyptian, Arab, and international sports stars. The second edition was held in Bulgaria in 2019, drawing international and Egyptian luminaries from the sports world.
Samar Hamza, born in 1995 in Alexandria Governorate, began her sports journey with karate before fate led her to wrestling. She has achieved remarkable success on the world stage, becoming the first Egyptian player to reach the final of the World Championship and earn numerous medals. According to the International Wrestling Federation, her dominance in the sport is exemplified by her consistent top-ranking position.
The International Wrestling Federation has recognised Samar Hamza as a
history-maker, celebrating her extraordinary championship wins over two
consecutive years.
Samar Hamza’s journey from Alexandria to the pinnacle of women’s wrestling
serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and underscores the
transformative power of sports in changing lives.
